CALL AND COLLECT

In accordance with Tier 4 guidelines, the shop is closed. But we will be open for curb-side collection from 10am till 1pm until Christmas Day.

Please call on 01707 322492 and we will do our best to identify your needs over the phone and find the gift you’re looking for. We will have your item ready for collection within minutes.

We have a collection and pay point outside the front of our shop to safely hand over your purchase. If our limited opening hours aren’t convenient for you, please do call to arrange an appointment and we will do our best to accommodate you. It is, after all and believe it or not, Christmas!

To all our customers who have repairs and alterations with us, we are working hard to get as much done as possible before the 25th, and we will be in touch over the course of today and tomorrow to keep you informed. We are so sad to lose these last 5 days of trading with you. The week leading up to Christmas is our favourite at Godshaws. It’s always full of magic, surprises, smiles and Christmas spirit. We love seeing you find the perfect gift for your loved ones, hearing about your Christmas plans, helping with surprises and unforgettable moments.

But losing these days with our customers doesn’t compare to the anguish many will be feeling about not being able to see their loved ones as we hoped we would be able to. From all of us at Godshaws, we sincerely hope that you find some light and magic on the day, wherever you are. Let’s all pick up the phone, stay in touch, share hopes and dreams for next year, and know that the sacrifices we’ve made this year and this Christmas are for the benefit of all and that we are all in this together.

How to Clean your jewellery

Have you noticed that lately your jewellery has lost its sparkle? Fear not! We have compiled a guide that will help you to get your favourite jewellery looking brand new again, mentioning a few products from Connoisseurs that we stock.

It is completely normal for silver to tarnish, gold to not look as shiny as it did when new and dirt to get in settings making your gemstones look a little grubby.

What is tarnish?!

Tarnish is a reaction that can happen when your silver jewellery is exposed to air and humidity, through a chemical reaction called ‘oxidisation’. This reaction causes a darker layer to form over the surface of the silver. Effects can be exacerbated by contact with the oil in our skin, hairspray, creams, lotions and even using certain cleaning products. Luckily, tarnish can be removed, and silver can be restored to its brilliant shine with some cleaning. Carry on reading to find out how!

How do I clean my silver jewellery?

We recommend Connoisseurs Silver jewellery cleaner. It is a fast and convenient way to remove tarnish and restore shine to your jewellery.

Sterling silver cleaner can only be used for sterling silver jewellery. Do not use on silver with stones or antiqued/oxidised silver.

How to use:

Use Silver Jewellery Cleaner only on .925 sterling silver.

1. Carefully cut the seal from the container. The solution has a strong odour but that is the nature

2. Place only one piece of jewellery in the dip tray. Lower dip tray into cleaning solution for up to 10 seconds. It is not necessary to soak for any extended period of time.

3. Remove dip tray from container and rinse thoroughly in room temperature water.

4. Dry jewellery with a lint free cloth.

5. If you have multiple pieces of silver it is best to wait a few minutes before submerging the next piece.

6. Use Connoisseurs silver polishing cloth or jewellery wipes to give your jewellery added shine. The silver polishing cloth and wipes will apply an anti-tarnish barrier to silver jewellery.

How do I clean my gold & precious jewellery?

The Connoisseurs Precious Jewellery Cleaner will bring out the brilliance of your gold, platinum, diamonds & precious stone jewellery. Polymers in their jewellery cleaning formula help to reduce the appearance of tiny scratches in settings. Connoisseurs Precious Bath is a good way to clean most metals used in jewellery today. It’s also Ammonia-Free.

How to use:

1. Carefully cut the seal from the container.

2. Place only one piece of jewellery in the dip try. Lower dip tray into cleaning solution for up to 30 seconds. It is not necessary to soak for any extended period of time. Repeat the process if needed.

3. Remove dip tray from container and rinse thoroughly in room temperature water. The cleansing brush included with the cleaner may be used to clean difficult to reach crevices.

4. Dry jewellery with a lint free cloth.

5. Use Connoisseurs gold polishing cloth or jewellery wipes to give your jewellery added shine. The gold polishing cloth and jewellery wipes will apply an anti-tarnish barrier to gold jewellery.

How do I clean my delicate jewellery?

Formulated to gently clean and revive the brilliance to delicate and costume jewellery.
Connoisseurs Delicate Jewellery Cleaner is ideal for gold plated jewellery, semi-precious and delicate stones such as pearls, opals, turquoise, coral and onyx. It’s also Ammonia-Free.

How to Use:

1. Carefully cut the seal from the container.

2. Place only one piece of jewellery in the dip tray.

5. Use either the Connoisseurs silver or gold polishing cloth to give your jewellery added shine. Both polishing cloths will apply an anti-tarnish barrier.

Connoisseurs Polishing Cloths

We also stock Connoisseurs Gold & Silver Polishing cloths. These are a convenient way to keep your jewellery looking it’s best (even on the move)! They work in a two step dry system, where the inner cloth is used to clean tarnish from jewellery and the outer one to polish and prevent any further tarnish buildup. These cloths are also great for cleaning watches.
